### Destination of Amarante More than an idyllic town in the Minho region,

---

Amarante is more than an idyllic town in the Minho region, with historic architecture, charming streets, and lush surrounding landscapes—it's one of the most ancient settlements in northern Portugal, with a history dating back to 360 BC. It is a living tapestry of Roman, mediaeval, and Renaissance influences, offering visitors an enriching experience steeped in history and culture.

What’s more, it is ideally located 45 minutes from Porto, and from the Douro Valley, as well as many of northern Portugal’s most stunning countryside landscapes. A superb basecamp from which to explore the diverse wonders of lesser known northern Portugal, offering you the best of both worlds: a quiet retreat that’s also a gateway to the rich cultural and natural treasures of the region.
